Local Attractions
Golfers and non golfers will enjoy time spent in this area as there are lots of interesting places to visit. It was here that Gavin Maxwell, author of "Ring of Bright Water", grew up and this otter became the logo of St Medan Golf Club. A bronze sculpture of an otter sits on the hill overlooking the bay, to the right as you approach the golf course.
Visit Wigtown - Scotland's National Book Town; Whithorn - where St Ninian founded the first church; and gardeners will not be disappointed when visiting Glenwhan Gardens, Logan Botanic Gardens or Castle Kennedy Gardens.
For the more active, the Galloway Forest Park offers walks and cycle paths to suit all abilities.
If you want to go further afield - why not take a day trip to Ireland from the port of Stranraer.
